A heritage of Swiss chocolate craftsmanship

Our story began in 1962 when Rudolf Läderach founded the company in Ennenda, Switzerland, with a vision to create revolutionary confectionery. A major milestone arrived in 1981 with the invention of FrischSchoggi, which changed how fresh chocolate is enjoyed. Today, the family tradition continues under the leadership of the second and third generations, with Jürg, Elias, and Johannes Läderach guiding our expansion. Every piece we produce still carries the dedication to quality that has defined our heritage for over sixty years, combining traditional handcrafting with modern innovation.

The journey of our chocolate begins in the tropical regions where the finest cocoa beans thrive. We collaborate directly and closely with farmers in Trinidad, Ecuador, Brazil, Madagascar, and Ghana. These regions are celebrated for their exceptional cocoa crops, which form the essential foundation of our chocolate. By maintaining direct relationships, we ensure that our sourcing practices remain highly ethical. This includes supporting fair wages, prohibiting child labor, maintaining safe working conditions, and promoting biodiversity through agroforestry techniques. This direct responsibility allows us to guarantee the exceptional quality of every bean that enters our production.

Mindful ingredients and allergen information

Once the beans arrive in Switzerland, they are transformed into our signature chocolate masses. Our dark chocolate selections span a wide spectrum of cocoa percentages to satisfy every preference. You can experience the balanced intensity of 50 to 60 percent cocoa, the deeper and more complex profiles of 70 to 85 percent, or the ultimate purity of 90 to 100 percent dark chocolate. Each percentage reveals a different facet of the bean, from fruity and floral notes to deep, roasted undertones that melt slowly on the tongue.

To create our exquisite assortments, we rely on simple, high-quality ingredients. The core of our chocolate consists of cocoa mass, cocoa butter, sugar, vanilla, and lecithin. For our milk chocolate varieties, we incorporate premium Alpine milk powder to achieve a velvety creaminess. Our fillings and decorations introduce other natural ingredients, including fresh cream, butter, roasted nuts, fruit purees, and subtle spices.

Because we handcraft our products in shared facilities, we must share important allergen details. Our chocolates are not certified gluten-free. While some recipes do not contain gluten as an ingredient, the risk of cross-contamination exists, making them unsuitable for individuals with celiac disease or severe gluten sensitivities. Many of our creations also contain dairy, soy, and tree nuts such as hazelnuts, almonds, and pistachios. Our signature FrischSchoggi is crafted for immediate enjoyment and has a shelf life of just a few weeks, while our classic pralines, truffles, and solid chocolate tablets can be savored over several months when stored correctly. To enjoy our chocolates at their peak, store them in a cool, dry, and dark environment, away from direct sunlight and strong odors. The ideal temperature range is between 60 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit (15 to 18 degrees Celsius). Avoid refrigeration unless absolutely necessary; if You must refrigerate Your chocolate, keep it in an airtight container and allow it to return to room temperature before opening to protect its velvety texture.
